North East Haematology Nurses group

The North East Haematology Nurses Group was established in the 1990’s.

This group of Haematology Clinical Nurse Specialists are passionate about improving the quality of care and experience for patients with haematological cancers/conditions.

The group meet quarterly and work effectively as a team to share good practice and education. Living with and beyond cancer is always high on the agenda and the group are constantly striving to enhance the care and services available.

In 2009 the group organised the first conference for patients and carers. After great success and a very positive evaluation, it was decided that the conference would be held bi-annually.

The event has grown in size and quality over the years, hosting some eminent expert speakers. The conference is designed to facilitate networking for patients and carers, with others experiencing similar life changing illnesses. To date approximately 1,200 patients and their carers have benefitted from attending the conference.

In 2019 the 6th conference will be held in Newcastle on Friday 4th October, with registrations now open for patients and their carer or significant other. Click here to register to attend.

The event has featured some fantastic guest speakers, including Calendar Girl Angela Knowles and Sunderland AFC legend Kevin Ball

The group work hard to generate funding, to allow the conference to be held in a pleasant environment and cost free for patients and carers. Fundraising is always challenging, and any ideas are always welcome.

Any donations to the group are gratefully received and are used to generate these valuable events. Donations can be sent to the group at:
