I was diagnosed with terminal Plasma Cell Leukaemia in June 2021.
Following chemotherapy, I received a stem cell transplant at The Freeman Hospital and saw up close the invaluable work that the medical staff and Bright Red volunteers did for every patient. Sadly the cancer returned earlier this year and I remain on ongoing chemotherapy to keep me in remission as long as possible.
The type of cancer I have is rare and when I was diagnosed I felt alone. However, I quickly found out that I wasn’t alone in this battle and soon became friends with fellow patients in the North East who are also battling different forms of leukaemia, myeloma and lymphoma. I’m proud to be offered the role as a Bright Red ambassador. In my remaining time, I would like to raise awareness for blood cancer and Bright Red, as I have seen the life saving work that goes on at Ward 33 of the Freeman Hospital and the support they receive from the charity.
Prior to diagnosis, I ran a music PR company with my wife Denise. Over the last two decades, we worked with a diverse group of acts and festivals and our work saw us travel around the UK.
I enjoy live music, European travel, meals out, cycling and walking.
