I received a bone marrow transplant on Ward 33 in the Freeman Hospital during January 2019. I wanted to find a way of saying “thankyou” for the magnificent care that I received from all the staff and wished to support the continuing work in research and diagnosis for the range of blood cancers.
Along with members of my family I organised a Christmas crafts’ fundraising day in aid of “Bright Red” in November 2019. The fundraising day was very successful and proved to be so popular that it has become an annual event supported by neighbours and friends.
I felt honored when I was asked to become an ambassador for “Bright Red”. It is an amazing local charity providing much needed funds for the support and treatment of patients with Blood Cancer.
A group of us, including two dogs, recently enjoyed the summer “woof walk”. I hope to continue supporting the charity in whichever way I can. The next craft day is already in the planning stage!
