The Royal Grammar School student, Rob Jones, set himself the challenge of rowing 33km ( 20.5 miles) in support of Bright Red.
“Bright Red is an important charity to me because of the great work they do for people suffering from blood-related illnesses and with the work that my mum does, relating to haematology. I thought it would be the perfect opportunity for me to do some fundraising for a great cause.”
Rob recently invested in a rowing machine, as staying active during lockdown was becoming increasingly difficult. “I wanted to switch up fundraising, instead of running I wanted to row, as it is a little different,” he says.
I enjoyed doing the event as it was both a physical challenge for me but also a great achievement to raise so much. I had a great sense of pride, knowing I was doing it for a great cause. I am already thinking about what could be my next physical challenge for Bright Red!”
Rob has been extraordinary and we wish to thank him for all of his hard work and determination. Thanks to amazing people like Rob, here at Bright Red we can continue our vital work in supporting patients, families and carers impacted by blood cancer.
